I Got Some Double Ds for Ya Today.......Desserts and Drinks!!! ;)

Honestly, one of the best parts about holidays is the dessert table! Who’s with me here! But it can also be one of the most fating courses. Let’s face it, we just spent all day waiting for all the yummy smelling food to get done, then we finally sit and stuff our faces! After all of that, we sit back down and once again break out all of desserts! If your family is anything like mine, you have just as many desserts to choose from as you did side dishes! So what the heck are we suppose to do?!?! Eat your pie plain, by skipping the a la mode you can save 250 calories!!! Instead of taking a whole piece of pie, take a half a piece! Adding whipped cream to your dessert adds another 80 calories!

The next best part of holidays besides the desserts is the drinks! Is sparkling wine one of your favorites?? Well, aren’t you fancy! ; ) Stick to one glass to stay in the safe calorie zone! We’ve all heard a glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away, or was that an apple!?! Anyway…for go a glass of red, it may stain your teeth yet, but it does have some benefits for your heart! Mixed with an array of fruit juices, a rum cocktail has more calories than a piece of pumpkin pie. Drink with caution! Skip the sangria, it’s loaded with fruit (and added sugar), this drink is sweet to sip, but not so great on your waistline. Water is where it’s at! Now doesn’t that sound fun! Well…..enjoy your holiday and drink safely my friends.

Don't let your Sides, End up on Your Sides!!!

Do you love side dishes more than the main dish?! Well….so do I!!! But, they certainly can be sinful and help you pack on the pounds! Did you know if you leave the bacon off your baked beans you could save yourself 42 calories?! One of my FAVES are the biscuits!!! Unfortunately they are dense in calories L However, cornbread can be a semi-healthier option. (which I love just as much J) Not so fast, just don’t smother it in butter! You can also skip the friend onions on top of that casserole and save yourself 50 calories! I know, I know….skip this, skip that, avoid this, avoid that, so what the heck are we suppose to eat!?!?! Just remember steamed veggies are always yummy and healthy! Instead of bathing you coleslaw in mayo, try using vinegar and herbs! Last, but not least don’t load you mashed potatoes with butter! Try mixing in low fat milk, chicken broth, and garlic cloves to add flavor! Trust me you won’t be sorry! Most importantly enjoy spending time with your loved ones and  take pleasure in your holiday!

Keeping our Dishes Delightful, without the Extra Guilt!

We all know this week we have a day full of eating ahead of us! But let's not let this one day ruin what we have all been working so hard for! Each day this week I'm going to be sharing tips on how to keep each course of your meal healthy, while still enjoying all the yummy treats the holiday has to offer!
   Enjoy your Turkey Day!

Today we are talking main dishes! Traditionally most of us eat turkey, but some of us may have ham, fish, or pork! Did you know that ham is one of the fattiest meats?! It contains 25% of your recommended amount of artery-clogging saturated fat in just ONE serving! EWW! Also, don't forget to skip the skin! Just one ounce of that yummy turkey skin is 80 calories and 2 grams of fat!!! Do you love the gravy as much as I do?! I can taste it as I sit here and type this, but unfortunately it adds 20 calories to you plate for each ounce! Don't get me wrong, I'm not skipping my gravy, but maybe I won't give my turkey a bath in it this year! Are you a dark meat or light meat lover?! Well if you swap dark meat for light meat you could save yourself 30 calories! Enjoy you Meals! But just remember, it's all about PC!!!! Portion Control!!! Don't let yourself over eat until the point of having to be rolled away from the table! That is not a pretty sight! ; )

My Top 10 Things to STOP Doing to Yourself!!!!

Alright my gorgeous peps! It's time to listen up! Today we are getting real here, it's time we step up to the plate and start being honest with ourselves! Being fit and healthy has just as much to do with our mental state as it does with our physical state! So, today we are focusing our improving ourselves! These are my top 10 things we need to stop doing to ourselves!

1. Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.  If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you.  You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot.  Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.  And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends. Believe me friends, I've been there! Who here stares at the phone just waiting to get that text, and we all know while we are waiting we get a text from everyone else under the sun, but the person we are waiting for! Stop giving someone that power over you!

2. Stop lying to yourself. – You can lie to anyone else in the world, but you can’t lie to yourself.  Our lives improve only when we take chances, and the first and most difficult chance we can take is to be honest with ourselves. Isn't it upsetting when a liars pants, don't actually catch on fire!

3. Stop trying to be someone you’re not. – One of the greatest challenges in life is being yourself in a world that’s trying to make you like everyone else.  Someone will always be prettier, someone will always be smarter, someone will always be younger, but they will never be you.  Don’t change so people will like you.  Be yourself and the right people will love the real you. "Don't be afraid of being different, be afraid of being the same as everyone else."

4. Stop trying to buy happiness. – Many of the things we desire are expensive.  But the truth is, the things that really satisfy us are totally free – love, laughter and working on our passions. Anyone that knows me, knows I do a lot of charity work, and that brings me more happiness that I could have ever imagined! One of my passions is helping others, it's totally free and makes me feel amazing!

5. Stop getting involved in relationships for the wrong reasons. – Relationships must be chosen wisely.  It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company.  There’s no need to rush.  If something is meant to be, it will happen – in the right time, with the right person, and for the best reason. Fall in love when you’re ready, not when you’re lonely. True Story!

6 .Stop trying to compete against everyone else. – Don’t worry about what others are doing better than you.  Concentrate on beating your own records every day.  Success is a battle between YOU and YOURSELF only.

7. Stop wasting time explaining yourself to others. – Your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe it anyway.  Just do what you know in your heart is right. Just be yourself!

8.Stop acting like everything is fine if it isn’t. – It’s okay to fall apart for a little while.  You don’t always have to pretend to be strong, and there is no need to constantly prove that everything is going well.  You shouldn’t be concerned with what other people are thinking either – cry if you need to – it’s healthy to shed your tears.  The sooner you do, the sooner you will be able to smile again. If you all knew the amount of times in a week that I just sit down and I have a good cry you would all think I'm crazy! But it truly does make me feel better!

9. Stop worrying so much. – Worry will not strip tomorrow of its burdens, it will strip today of its joy.  One way to check if something is worth mulling over is to ask yourself this question: “Will this matter in one year’s time?  Three years?  Five years?”  If not, then it’s not worth worrying about. I am guilty as charged! I worry about everythingggg! But I am working on this one!

10. Stop being ungrateful. – No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life.  Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs.  Instead of thinking about what you’re missing, try thinking about what you have that everyone else is missing.

Speaking the truth today!

A complete list of this article can be found at: 30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself. I keep this article book marked on my computer and revisited it when I need a little pick me up! I just wanted to share my top 10 with you! I hope it brought some light in to your day! Our health is an equal balance of our mental and physical states, if we don't have them in check, then what do we have?!

Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy....

Yesterday I left work with a fever, coughing my lungs up, and a migraine. I seriously thought there was no way I was going to make it to the gym. But, deep down I knew that I could not skip another day and write to my team that once again, I did nothing. Don't get me wrong, they are a great group of people who would've completely understood, but I needed to do it for me. As I walked in the door of my gym, I said to myself, I don't know how much I will accomplish, but I'm going to give it my best! That is what I did! I ran 1.5 miles. I wanted to go more, my body felt great, but my chest was very tight and the coughing would not stop! I also made up two days of the my challenges that I missed over the weekend. I wanted to do more, but I just couldn't! However, I am really proud of myself for accomplishing what little I did get done! I was able to prove that even with a fever and being sick, I am dedicated to this journey, and I will not let anything stop me! A bad workout is better than not workout! So what's your excuse for skipping your workout?!?! If you start now, you will start seeing results one day earlier, than if you wait until tomorrow....Start NOW! We got this!!!
Last night in the gym! I was pouring sweat from my fever,
and getting some strange looks from other people,
but I still got it done!

If you don't Stand Behind our Troops, Why don't You Stand in Front of Them!

Good Morning my little sunshines! I just want to take a moment and share with you all how my mom and I spend our night! It's that time of year where we are all planning for the up coming holidays! As you sit and write out your cards this year, please take a moment and write just one to our troops! These men and women don't always get to spend the holidays with loved ones! I'm sure they would love more than anything to wake up next to the ones they love, or see the look on their children's faces and celebrate just as we are all planning to do. But the reality of it is, that they can't. Let's just take a moment out of our day to remind all of our service men and women that we love them and appreciate what they are doing! I have to be honest, this task was harder than I thought. I felt as though whatever I wrote wouldn't be enough, but I wrote a message that came from my heart and reminded them that I am thankful for all that they do, pray for their safe return.

There is No Force Equal than that of a Determined Woman.....

Good Morning Bloggies! I'm sorry I have not posted in a few days! I spent the weekend celebrating my best friend's birthday with her! I drove six hours each way to see her! Needless to say my weekend was busy! I did not hit the gym, and felt extremely guilty about it! I did however spend two nights dancing my little heart out for hours! Did you know that dancing for an hour or two could burn any where from 700-1000+ calories! Well, it's true! I mean I'm not sure what good that did me when I ate crappy all weekend, but at least it was better than nothing right?! Well, I could not wait to get back into the gym on Monday, and guess what! Monday morning I wake up with a fever, and started hacking up my lungs. I still had every intention on going to the gym, but then my family asked me if I was crazy! I could barley walk around my house without coughing, how was I going to run at the gym?! So, I once again took a rest day! I feel like I have put all my weight back on, I feel fat, and bloated! I am not a happy girl today! : ( But what can you do when you get off track?! It's ok, it's not the end of the world! Pick yourself back up and start again! The truth of the matter is, we all have lives that get crazy and busy at times, we get sick then have to heal! But, we can't let that get in the way of our goals! As I sit here and type this, I am reading over my goal list and reminding myself why I started in the first place! You know what? Fever and all I will be in the gym tonight, giving it my all! I will not lose sight of my goals, and I will achieve them! It may take me longer than I had hoped, but I will get there!!!
What are some of your goals?! What is your motivation?!

Are You One of Those?!?!

Are you a stress eater?!?! I most definitely am!! This has been one stressful week, and I have noticed that I find myself turning to food! I'm not talking about salads and veggies, I mean why can't out bodies crave these foods when we are stressed or upset?! Nope mine wants, good stick to your bones kinda food! You know what I mean, homemade mac and cheese, or pizza, ice cream, you know those foods that are going to make me put weight back on! I have to be honest, I have been saying no most of the time, but this week I did give in a few times and feed my cravings. I'm disappointed in myself to say the least! I know there are better ways of dealing with stress. What do you do to deal with stress in your life?!? I mean I know we all have something going on in our lives that stresses us! What can we do to work on dealing with our stress in a healthy way? I know that as soon as my body gets what it want, it wants more! What an evil cycle! I swear there is a little monster living in me somewhere who just loves the fating foods and just can't get enough! At times when I get a craving, I drink a big glass of water. But as I sit here and write this, I'm thinking the next time I get a craving I might do some crunches, or squats to remind myself that I'm working on me and don't have room for these fating foods in my life any more. I know....I know....it's easier said than done! But who's with me?!?! We can do this! What are some things that help you avoid stress eating?!

My many nights I've spent in the gym!

It's time to kick this stress eating in the ass.....

“If There is No Struggle, There is No Progress.”

Hello all of my fabulous followers! I'm sorry I have not posted in a few days! But, I'm back!  Since I have lasted posted I assure there has been lots of sweat and even some tears shed. I knew this journey wouldn't be easy, if it was everyone would look like super models right?! Well lately, my whole body hurts and feels weak. I  left the gym last night feeling angry and tears running down my face! I am pushing myself to the limit everyday and feel like I'm not getting anywhere. When I stepped on the scale this morning, it showed that I had gained weight! I was so upset, I just about broke out into tears! I am feeling a bit discouraged lately. I have turned to some of the people that I have met on this journey. They gave me great advice and lifted my spirits! I know that today is a new day, a day to keep pushing forward and NOT give up! Over the weekend I did do a little shopping and tried on some clothes! I was very happy that I was able to buy a smaller size, and the size I did wear seemed baggy on me now! Even though I may not be losing a lot of weight according to the scale, I am losing inches, because my clothes are fitting much better! Yesterday got the best of me, but today is a whole new day! The most important thing I've learned, some days will be harder than others, but a a bad workout is better than no workout!

Obsessed is a Word the Lazy use to Describe the Dedicated!

I have had many of you ask what my workout schedule looks like! I will gladly share with you some of my workouts! When I first started I would run 1 mile on the elliptical and bike as long as I could, and call it a day. Well now I push myself harder and harder! Last night I spent two hours at the gym and even then I didn't want to leave! Crazy I know! It feels so good to push my body to the limits everyday!

Along with the workouts on this calendar, I run 2-3 miles a day, and bike anywhere from 8-12 miles a day! I've said it before and I will say it again....If you have not tried planking, do it!!!! You feel an immediate pull at your core! It's fantastic!!! Last night along with what's on this calendar I ran 2 miles, biked 8.8 miles, did 50 bicep curls, 45 push ups, 100 crunches, and 100 squats! I felt amazing afterward! To be honest, I have burpees on my calendar but I have yet to do any. I am working my way up to that! My goal is to do 5 today!! I haven't seen a ton of results yet, but I have definitely noticed some and it's been less than a month!

I see a little progress! What are your thoughts?!?!

There is no secret to losing weight or a magic trick! It takes hard work and dedication. Some days it takes everything you have to just make it to the gym let alone finish! But that's where you have to dig deep and ask yourself why you are there in the first place! Last night I was dragging in the gym, my body hurt, I was tired, and I didn't want to be there. But I knew that if I didn't go I would regret it and feel pretty crappy about myself! You have to ignore that voice in your head telling you that you can't and prove that you can! You are stronger than you know! Two months ago, this workout would've killed me, today I can't wait to get there tonight and see how much more I can accomplish! Feel free to reach out to me, we can motivate each other!

Struggling is all Part of the Jounrney....

I knew nothing about this journey was going to be easy! I have to say that I really look forward to working out everyday. It's my time that I can just work on myself! Last night I spend two hours in the gym and thought about staying more. I felt great! The part of this journey that I am struggling with the most is my diet! I love to eat, I mean who doesn't right?!?! This past week has been especially difficult. It was my birthday week, and I have been blessed with such amazing people in my life that I had three different birthday cakes! I had a dinner party with my family and friends, which was packed with chips, dip, pizza, cake, cookies, and the list goes on and on.

This is the cake my mom made me!

I have to say over all I didn't do too bad. I had no chips, dip or cookies. I did have one slice of pizza and a piece of cake! I have been doing a lot of reading lately and losing weight is more about your diet than working out. Don't get me wrong, working out is important and plays a big role. But a healthy diet is key. I have been really struggling with this! My goal is to work on meal prep that way when my family is eating something not so healthy I can join them with a healthy alternative. I am also a very picky eater. I do not like eggs, fish, pork, fruit. So, I would have to say that eating a healthy diet is proving to be the toughest part of this challenge. It's hard to stay focused when you are not seeing the results you want right away. Believe me, as much as I would like to say this challenge is great and I'm killing it, It is a struggle some days! However, I have noticed that my pants are much looser than they were, so I am very excited about this!!! I am looking forward to see how much difference a month can make. I am really going to focus on both my diet and working out and see if my results improve! So who's with me?! We are in this together!

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!

Are you Ready to be More Slender this November?!

Good Morning all my beautiful bloggies! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Mine was a bit busy, but terrific! I spent my weekend celebrating my birthday with family and friends! However, I did fit time in to work out everyday, and I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself! Believe me, I know that fitting in a workout is not always easy. Especially when you work all day and still have to come home and make dinner, do laundry, and whatever else we have going on. Friday was my birthday, I spent the day working, then went to the spa, and then out to dinner! It was a great day, but I didn't get home until after 10. The first thing I did when I walked in the door was to change and threw T25 into my TV. Trust me it was the last thing I wanted to do, but I want to reach my goals, and I am not going to get there with out working hard every day! This month I have also joined two more challenge groups, one focusing on arms, legs, and abs, and one is a planking challenge. For those of you who have not tried planking, well you don't know what you're missing!! I have developed a love hate relationship with planking. I hate doing it, but loveee the way it makes it me feel! If you have not tried them, I would recommend that you do!!! Being a part of these three challenge groups has really kept me motivated! I'm so happy that I joined, and I am seeing results! The thing I have to keep reminding myself is that it is a slow process!!! I have been avoiding the scale because I know that I will disappointed when I jump on. Is anyone else afraid of getting on the scale?!?! Well this morning I finally did! I am down from the last time I weighed myself, but not down as much as I would like to be! It has given me the push to work harder and really focus on eating healthier. I have made a list of goals for myself this month, and it's something that I want to do every month! It will remind me what I am working for and allow me to narrow in on the little things I want to focus on for those 30 days! So, who's with me?!?! Take a piece of paper and write down 5 things you want to focus on this month! It doesn't have to be just weight loss goals, they can be personal goals as well! We are in this together! If you need a little extra encouragement, check out my instagram! Jess_lynn89 I am following some truly inspiring individuals that give me that push to better myself everyday! You are more beautiful than you will ever know! Happy Monday all!

Here is my list of goals for the month! Don't lose
sight of what your working for!
